WHERE ARE THEY NOW? - ALLY MCBEAL
Calista Flockhart
Calista Kay Flockhart was born born November 11th, 1964 and is an Emmy Award-nominated, as well as Golden Globe-, Screen Actors Guild Award- and Theatre World Award- winning American actress. Since leaving Ally McBeal Flockhart has continued to act in television and motion pictures. She auditioned for the role of Susan Mayer on 'Desperate Housewives', but lost the role to Teri Hatcher. She now plays Sally Field's feuding daughter, Kitty Walker, on the ABC drama, 'Brothers & Sisters', which premiered in September 2006 as the lead-out programme to 'Desperate Housewives'.
Lucy Liu
Lucy Alexis Liu was born December 2nd, 1968 and raised with her brother, Alex Liu, in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York by Chinese immigrant parents. Liu began acting in 1989, after auditioning for a role in the University of Michigan's production of 'Alice in Wonderland' during her senior year. After 'Ally McBeal' Liu became better known as Alex Munday in the 'Charlie's Angels' film, alongside established Hollywood stars Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. The film opened in November 2000 and was a hit, earning more than $125 million in the U.S., and a worldwide total of more than $264 million. Her film '3 Needles' was released on December 1st, 2006. In the film, she plays Jin Ping, an HIV-positive Chinese woman. Liu agreed to star in the film for lower than usual pay because she wanted to spread awareness about the way AIDS is improperly treated in China and Thailand. Liu has guest starred as lawyer Grace Chin on 'Ugly Betty'. She stars in the 'Sex and the City' inspired TV show, 'Cashmere Mafia' on ABC. In 2007, Empire magazine named her among the "100 Sexiest Movie Stars".
Greg Germann
Gregory Andrew Germann was born February 26th, 1958 in Houston, Texas and raised on Lookout Mountain outside of Golden, Colorado. His father, Edward A. Germann, was a playwright and professor. Germann directed a few 'Ally McBeal' episodes. He appeared on ABC's 'In Case of Emergency' as Sherman Yablonsky until it was cancelled after one season. Most recently, he appeared in the pilot episode of 'Eureka' as the director of operations, Warren King. He did not reprise the role, and his character's disappearance was never addressed.
Lisa Nicole Carson
Lisa Nicole Carson was born July 12th, 1969 in Brooklyn, NY and has the distinction of having simultaneously starred in television's most lauded comedy and drama series. She starred as Renee Radick, the D.A. roommate of Calista Flockhart on 'Ally McBeal' and as Carla Reese, the mother of Eriq La Salle's son on 'ER'. However, her contract was not renewed for 'ER' because the writers and producers were tired of her "unpleasant attitude". In her own words: "I've been called schizoid, manic depressive, crazy, since I came out of the womb. I'm a super-bad bitch." Carson was arrested in February, 2000 in Los Angeles for "intentionally interfering with a lawful business establishment...and refusing to leave the premises" after she began screaming obscenities in the L'Ermitage Hotel. In 2001, she was fired from 'Ally McBeal', because of her "unpleasant attitude", her mood swings, her drug use, and the frequent amount of times she came into work whilst inebriated. Shortly after, she was hospitalized in a mental health facility which was reportedly due to a drug-related incident. However, in recent years her family and friends have acknowledged that Carson's abberant behavior was actually due to her developing Schizophrenia. Little has been known of her life since then and Carson has now withdrawn from acting and public life while suffering from Schizophrenia. Currently, she is is being cared for by family and mental health specialists treating her debilitating disease.
Courtney Thorne-Smith
Courtney Thorne-Smith was born November 8th, 1967. Before 'Ally McBeal' she was best known for her portraying of Alison Parker on 'Melrose Place'. In 1999, she became a spokeswoman for Almay cosmetics, being the face of their new line of make-up "Skin Stays Clean." Courtney left the 'Ally McBeal' show because she felt pressured to be so thin that her health was in jeopardy, and also wanted to spend more time with then-new husband Andrew Conrad. On September 18th, 2007, Thorne-Smith's novel, 'Outside In', was published by Broadway Books.
